Welcome

Welcome!

My Photography/Video, Communications, and Instructional Design work have a common thread: bring a story to life, connecting the pieces together that fit and eliminating what doesn't add to the big picture.

Bottom line, I like to use stories in whatever form feels right to help the audience understand an idea and add to their knowledge and experience, whether it's visual or written.

About Me

My background includes years in Communications and Instructional Design, and I continue to consult and develop solutions that engage the audience. I'm dedicated to understanding the need so that the communication or training is aligned to the objectives and adds value for the audience and stakeholders, whether a timely newsletter or communications campaign.

Photography is a natural outgrowth - there are stories every day that present themselves. Nature provides something new each day and every season. I find that Nature is perfect as is. All I can do is attempt to record the moment, whether it's the first brave flower in spring or the last red sumac in winter, a brand-new fawn or a leaping rabbit, a rotting log with mushrooms, a bug's shadow, a Sandhill Crane dancing, or an ice sculpture that formed overnight. I feel grateful to be an eyewitness to moments like these.

I began with my cell phone, zooming in on stationary things like a small flower, a water droplet, an acorn, an ice crystal. Then I found I could get even closer with a clip-on macro lens. Cell phones now have that option and can capture some amazing images.

I started bringing a digital camera along (thanks to the internet, I learned you don't need to shut one eye to look through the viewfinder!).

My enthusiasm for photography has only grown. I've seen some amazing things, unique behaviors, beauty. And most importantly, I've found the quieter I am inside and outside, the more I see.

Photography/Video

I like to take photos that capture something unexpected, like Sand Hill cranes and deer together, an interesting perspective of a building or landscape.

One outcome is a book for children and adults to enrich environmental education: "What do you Spy with your Eagle Eyes?" environmental education.

I also produce live-streamed all-company meetings and film and produce videos and create storyboards.

Contact me:

  • To do your next Nature-focused workshop/event for kids and adults.

  • Provide photography for your next magazine article or newsletter.

  • To produce your live-streamed project

Communications

Communications tell a story and have a logical order, whether it's a branding or safety campaign, rolling out a training program or supporting a strategic initiative.

Start by stepping back to see the big picture, identify objectives and understand the audience. These are key components of an effective communication strategy. A question I often ask is: as a result of this communication, what do you want the audience to know and do? This helps my clients and I focus on what is most important and eliminate what is not. I help you to create communications and presentations that stand out, stay on message, and use the power of relevant images to pique interest.

Contact me to:

  • Write newsletters

  • Develop communication plans for your organization announcements

  • Conduct workshops on better business presentations

  • Collaborate on creating your next book

  • Write sell sheets, product guides, brochures, and web content

  • Facilitate Zoom meetings

Instructional Design

Instructional design uses story to build upon the adult learner's experience, allowing them to apply what they know already, whether the medium is eLearning, virtual, or traditional classroom training.

Contact me to create engaging learning experiences (virtual, classroom, hybrid) for:

  • New hires, new products, sales, and dealer training

  • Healthcare research/regulatory training, new devices

  • Social issue awareness, such as dementia and Alzheimer's, and human trafficking

  • Sustainability, quality, or safety training
